The service began with the Psalm 124, the Gloria Patri, and the hymn of praise was "O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing." We had words of joy and testimony and special music by Barbara Bonds.

The theme for today's sermon was going out to other people.

Mr 7:14
And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

Mr 7:15
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

Mr 7:16
If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

Mr 7:17
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

Mr 7:18
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

Mr 7:19
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

Mr 7:20
And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

Mr 7:21
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Mr 7:22
Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

Mr 7:23
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Mr 7:24
And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

Mr 7:25
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

Mr 7:26
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

Mr 7:27
But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

Mr 7:28
And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

Mr 7:29
And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

Mr 7:30
And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

Pastor Robbie said that we will receive many perceived insults in our lives, but these should not stop us from receiving grace. Jesus spoke rather harshly to the Gentile woman, but she still asked for His grace, and it was given to her. Jesus, by His example of reaching out to the Gentiles, demonstrated that we need to approach others, not just those like us, but people who seem different. The verse also demonstrates that persistence of faith will be rewarded.

Once again, Jesus is shown to have gone against the Pharisees and the existing traditions. He said it is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but what comes from within.

Ac 11:1
And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

Ac 11:2
And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

Ac 11:3
Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

Pastor Robbie said that breaking bread together was a powerful symbol, and that for Peter to eat with the Gentiles was a very big break from tradition. This is another example of reaching out to those who seem different.

The closing hymn was "Stand By Me."
